There can be no second birth

We have been born once and there can be no second birth. For all eternity we shall no longer be. But you, although you are not master of tomorrow, are postponing your happiness. – Epicurus

This one is the one that resonated so deeply with me when I first read it – this perfectly encapsulates the feeling of “carpe diem” for me. This is the time we are given; no other.

Do not postpone that which will bring you joy, for you cannot be certain of tomorrow. We must “make hay while the sun shines,” to use another idiom.
