Quotations:

“Stop thinking about how to be a good man, and be one.” — Marcus Aurelius

I love this quote from Meditations. Considered by many to be one of the great source texts for ancient stoicism, it is full of epicurean ideas and references.

For me this quote is non-partisan — it doesn’t really say how to be a good man, on its own. I understand its context but for me the clear bias towards action is akin to “carpe diem” and from an epicurean perspective, I am the one responsible for determining the definition of “good” for myself.
