"Every part of me will be assigned its place..." - Epicureanism | Epic Swerve

"Every part of me will be assigned its place..."

“Every part of me will be assigned its place by change into some part of the universe, and that again into another part of the universe, and so on to infinity.” — Marcus Aurelius

Marcus Aurelius, one of the great emperor’s of Rome, is often quoted as a stoic but he was well aware of Epicurean philosophy and you can see it’s influence often in Meditations (the famous stoic text).

The quotation above is from Book V, 13. It is an epicurean axiom: we will return to nature when we die, and nature infinitely recycles its parts.
